Welcome to the first edition of TigerTalk – a quick, monthly update on behalf of the Committee for all things going on for the Tigers Juniors. This will usually be the stuff occurring behind the scenes and won’t replace other updates via the website or socials. As always, I’d encourage you to reach out if you have any queries – don’t be shy!
In case you missed my previous update (available here), there was a few changes at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) to Committee positions – including the departure of both Phil as President and Dave as Vice President given their moves. The Secretary position remained vacant at the AGM – but in the January meeting Craig Lynch was confirmed in the position and will keep us organised in 2021! Thanks to Craig for volunteering for the role, feel free to get in touch with him via the firstname.lastname@example.org email. If you have a query, the Secretary is often a good first point of call.
You’ll have probably seen the social media or website advertising requesting sponsors for 2021. Sponsors make a significant financial and goods/services contribution to the Club and its members – without which we cannot survive (or your rego fees would be astronomically high to cover all the costs!). If your business, boss or someone else might be interested, please get them to email email@example.com or call me on 0455 338 248 to chat through options. It’s a great reminder that we should support our Sponsors whenever we possibly can!
There’s been great early interest, I look forward to releasing the details over our sponsors over the coming weeks as they are locked in.
Although we again had a one year playing kit for 2020, we will return to a two year jersey/shorts/socks in 2021 (due to significant costs), training shirts will be issued each year. We’re working with our preferred supplier and expect to release the recommended design in coming weeks. To ensure we get the right quantity and sizes of jerseys/shorts/socks – I urge you to register ASAP
Registration / Rego Day
Registrations are already open for 2021 – my thanks to everyone who has already registered, we’ve got far stronger numbers than I saw last year. At the AGM, we agreed to set a discounted rate for registration until rego day (13 February) – after which it will increase. I also expect rates will likely need to increase next year. The Club gets significant benefit from early regos and we order the right quantities of gear, so please get on and do it asap – or we risk not registering the right/enough teams in age groups, you end up with the wrong size jerseys (or no jerseys). Given 2021 NSW ActiveKids vouchers are active, please get on and register. If you’re experiencing financial difficulties (including not able to provide football boots for your child/ren) please get in touch with me directly to discuss options.
Our main rego day is tentatively set for 13 February at Mick Sherd, details are on Facebook or the website. We also have info stalls set for Braidwood and Tarago Markets with Registrar Alicia – see event details on Facebook or the website (first is this weekend).
We’re hoping the cutomised Tigers footballs we ordered will be available for sale on the day (limited quantity will be available), and we’ll have some older Tigers merchandise available for sale.
The Club runs on volunteers. We will need Coaches, Managers, LeagueSafe and Trainers for every team. If you can help or are interested (even if it’s “if no one else will do it”) – please register your interest with Registrar Alicia firstname.lastname@example.org. As a reminder, if teams do not have the mandatory positions (and qualifications) filled, they cannot take the field. All team volunteers must have a current NSW Working With Children Check (or equivalent) – they’re free to get for volunteers.
Canberra Region Rugby League (CRRL) proposed the Junior comp to start on 2 May (please see the post from 7 December for details – click here). This will avoid some of the issues of public holidays, and we will of course announce if there are any changes of dates on Facebook and the website.
The Committee will continue to ensure that members are kept updated at the monthly meetings – anyone is able to attend these and have a chat. We will also continue to communicate via the website and Facebook, but also Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat when we can. We’ll be soon enabling opt-in email updates from the website, so stay tuned!
Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any queries or suggestions.
