As many of you will be aware, the Juniors held their AGM last week on 3rd December which has resulted in some Committee changes for the 2021 season. Most notably, Phil Sutevski (President) and Dave McDonald (Vice President) did not stand for re-election, as are both relocating in 2021.
Farewell Phil and Dave!
On behalf of the Committee and all of the Club, I would like to acknowledge both Phil and Dave’s significant contributions over a number of years.
Phil Sutevski joined the Juniors in 2017, becoming President in 2018, and also serving in various Coach, Manager, and Trainer roles throughout his time with the Tigers. Phil has demonstrated a extreme passion to making the Club a family-oriented, fun place to play rugby. Phil wore “many hats” throughout his time with the Club, going above and beyond to get things done – often without any assistance.
In 2020, Phil led the Club’s COVID-19 return to play efforts – completing significant planning and paperwork in order to enable our Club to return to training and play ahead of many others. Phil should be commended on his passion for the Club and friendly, approachable manner – often as the face for new families.
We wish Phil, Stacey, and all the family the very best for their relocation in 2021. Phil will continue to assist with transition ahead of his departure.
Dave McDonald joined the tigers in 2014, coaching every year (bar one – although he was still coaching Union) – from U7’s until the U13’s in 2020. Dave also served as Secretary in 2019 and Vice President in 2020. A key highlight, Dave and Phil led their U12’s team to joint premiers in 2019 in a sensational finals game.
Dave invested significant time into coaching his team, twice a week every week in both pre-season and the season itself. The move into international games rules for his team in 2020, Dave had to ensure access to the correct equipment and achieved accreditation as an International Games Coach ahead of the season also. Dave should be commended on his exceptional humour and demonstrated passion for his team and the Club – providing every possible opportunity to keep the teams progressing in the season.
We wish Dave all the very best for his relocation and will still look forward to seeing him on the sidelines around Canberra. Dave continues to be be available during the handover.
2021 Committee and Club Positions
It was very pleasing to see some new (old) faces at the AGM. Following the official process, I am pleased to confirm the 2021 Committee and Club positions as follows:
- President – Daniel Todd
- Vice President (and Club Coach) – Jason McManus
- Secretary – [vacant] (Mel Lynch is assisting as the Assistant Secretary in the interim)
- Treasurer – Juliet Dowling
- Registrar – Alicia McManus
- Head Trainer – Stacey Todd
- General Members – Naomi Baker-Apps (and Ground Manager), Mel Lynch, Craig Lynch, Brett White, Cassie White
The addition of several new general committee members this year will enable us to achieve even more than we could in 2020. If we have anyone interested in the Secretary role (or you want more info, please get in touch via Secretary@bungendoretigers.com.au).
Coaches and Volunteers
Following Dave’s departure, I am pleased to confirm Brett White will assume responsibility for Coaching U14’S in 2021 (assisted by Jason McManus). Brett will be working on recruiting additional players to ensure an adequate number for our 2021 side.
Thanks to those that have already reached out to offer to Coach or volunteer in 2021. If you haven’t already done so, please let Alicia (firstname.lastname@example.org) know what role(s) you are interested in, as she is collating on behalf of the Committee. As a reminder, Coaches and Trainers must hold current qualifications/accreditations (which the Club will pay for) and all volunteers require a current NSW/ACT Working With Children Check, and be registered in MySideline. Alicia will work with our volunteers to help guide you through this.
2021 registrations are already open, you can find out more about the process on the Registrations page, or contact Alicia for assistance. The Committee approved the following fees for 2021 ($150 fee in 2020):
- $140 ‘early bird’ rate from 3 December 2020 until Registration Day in February 2021
- $165 for registrations thereafter until cut-off date
- Munchkins $25 per player
- Sibling discount again available to third child from the same family/parent/carer which reduces the fee to $100 for third child and beyond (discount does not apply to Munchkins players). Contact Alicia for assistance with this process.
We encourage registrations as soon as you are able to, to assist with team formations and administration processes – including playing kit orders. Don’t forget to use your NSW ActiveKids voucher as part of the online registration process.
Please check out the seperate post that will be on the Homepage for 2021 Proposed Season Dates.
I look forward to working with the Committee and all of the Tigers families for the 2021 season. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me or the Committee if you have any queries.
