Juniors: Round 6 match reports

U9 Orange

What a day it was down in Tuggeranong, with the U9 Orange up against the Tuggeranong Buffaloes Gold.

The U9 Tigers Black demonstrated great team spirit with again a tunnel for the Orange boys to run out on the field, this time led by the Captain of the Day, Lachie.

It was a tough start for the Tigers with the Buffaloes ready to run scoring 2 tries backed up by 2 conversions and leading the game going into the 2nd quarter. The 2nd quarter saw a very tight game with no tries being scored. The team did a great job at defence with Kobe taking down the big guys with some hard tackles and Nelson getting up quickly from marker to stop the attack. At halftime, it was time to down oranges and regroup. Looks like the oranges and Jimmy’s pep talk did the job as the Tigers were back into attack with Kobe finding a gap in the Buffaloes line. With a quick dart and a dash to the try line the first try was scored! This was then followed up with a conversion. It wasn’t long and Lucas was running down the paddock to score the second try followed by a conversion.

The Tigers continues to defend well with Nelson managing his first pushback into the Buffaloes own in goal forcing a line drop out. A great comeback it was and the Tigers were on a roll. Nelson scored the next try after a great pass from Ollie confused the Buffaloes opening a gap to run through. Nathan demonstrated great speed and scored another try. When it looked like it was going to be a close match after another Buffalo try, Lucas tapped the ball to restart and charged straight ahead to the try line to top off a win for the Mighty Tigers! What a great game it was to watch.
