Round 6 was played in cool, crisp conditions against the Woden Weston gold side at Curtain Oval. Despite the cold everyone turned up ready and keen. Both sides ran in some excellent tries and I am sure the parents watching enjoyed the game. There was plenty of wilful runners and in the end for those who count the game ended in a draw. Something new this week was the offload pass; all of the kids had a go at this and the passing was fairly effective,  although some may have been a touch forward but that gives us something to work on in the coming weeks. Player awards went to Ashton, Jake & Sebastian this week which were well deserved. The kids all seem to still be enjoying themselves and in the end it’s all about having fun. Due to the long weekend this week there will be no training, but we will all be back at training on the 17th preparing for our next game which is at home on the 20/06.

After a long trip in the car to Gordon it seemed to take the boys half the game to realise they were there to play footy. Kobi lead the boys out as captain this week and played well above his weight. Will and Jimmy worked really well on what we have been practising at training. Lucas won the tackler of the week trophy. Try scorers were Nelson 1, Nathan 1, Kobi 3, Blake 1 and Jay 2. Players of the week went to Pat for two great one on one tackles, Will for improving every week and making some fantastic running today, and Nathan for his best game so for with lots of hit ups through the middle of the field and for some excellent cover tackles in defence. Rest up boys with no game next week let’s get to training on Thursday and have a bit of fun and look forward to our next game back at the Sherd

The team had a really tough match against the Blues. There will be a few bruises in the morning! Even though the score line didn’t go their way, the team kept fighting the whole game showing tenacity and teamwork.

Louis had a brilliant game and despite being half the size of the other team he continued to fight, doing some amazing tackles and being everywhere at once.

Asha also deserves special mention for her determination and bravery throughout the game.

It was a game of learnings for the Orange team but they will come back stronger.

It has been fabulous to see our youngsters showing such teamwork, all-round effort and spirit over the last few weeks, none more so than at Wright Park last Sunday when they gave of their very best in an exciting game again Queanbeyan White.

Displaying great energy and enthusiasm from the first whistle to the last, the Tigers ran hard with the ball, provided great offloads and worked very hard in defence moving up together in the line and tackling low and hard.

Rhys, Max and Lachlan each crossed the line in the first half and also converted their try scoring efforts and we went into the half time break a little behind. Unperturbed they came out in the second half raring to go and made great yardage in completing their sets well and handling the ball cleanly.

Lachlan again crossed the try line and this time Dan stood up and made the conversion and, although the Whites drew away from us on the scoreboard, the Tigers continued to work relentlessly hard and never gave up until the final siren.

Everyone deserves a mention and this week the Coach’s Award goes to Rhys and Jakobi for their awesome all-round efforts.

This weekend is a fabulous opportunity to relax and enjoy time with family and friends and we look forward to see everyone at training after the break.

Go you Tigers!!!!
