Juniors: TigerTalk – February 2021

Welcome to this month’s edition of TigerTalk – a quick, monthly update on behalf of the Committee for all things going on for the Tigers Juniors. This will usually be the stuff occurring behind the scenes and won’t replace other updates via the website or socials. As always, I’d encourage you to reach out if you have any queries – don’t be shy!

Vale Alex Rodham

We were saddened to hear of the passing of Alex Rodham from the Seniors this month (please see more here). Alex played in the Juniors for many years too, and was an all round great bloke. The Seniors and Juniors Committees are looking at ways to honour Alex, and will provide details in due course.

Committee Meetings

The Committee currently meets monthly, on the first Tuesday of the month from 630pm at the meeting room at Mick Sherd. Anyone is welcome to attend, a QR Code is provided to sign in using Service NSW as part of our Covid safety plan.

Sponsorship

I’m thrilled that we’ve had such an amazing response to sponsors for our 2021 (and 2022) season. We’re just finalising a few agreements and will then announce the consolidated list as soon as we can – there’s some familiar and new names that’ll be on the playing kit and training shirts.  We’re closing sponsorship shortly to allow us to get the jerseys/shirts ordered.

Playing Kit

Want to see what the kids will be wearing for the 2021/2022 seasons? Wait no more, the initial designs (not yet with sponsor logos) are below. We’ll be working with our preferred supplier Paladin for the next couple of years and will have an online store for purchasing off-field gear in your preferred sizes. More to come.

Rego Day

Was great to see so many people at our main rego day earlier this month (which was combined with the seniors).  In case you missed it, the Club was also presented with an award for being joint champions of NSWRL #RESPECT (read more here). Thanks to all our volunteers for the day, especially Mel running canteen and Jane our BBQ pro, along with our merchandise and canteen helpers.

You can still register your child to play. Registrar Alicia is keeping the discount on until Tuesday night as we have a couple of clearances from other clubs going through the system. Please register so we can finalise teams, coaches, and order the playing kits ahead of season start.

Volunteers

The Club runs on volunteers. We will need Coaches, Managers, LeagueSafe and Trainers for every team. If you can help or are interested (even if it’s “if no one else will do it”) – please register your interest with Registrar Alicia rego@bungendoretigers.com.au. As a reminder, if teams do not have the mandatory positions (and qualifications) filled, they cannot take the field. All team volunteers must have a current NSW Working With Children Check (or equivalent) – they’re free to get for volunteers.

The Club covers the costs of any required NRL training courses/reaccreditations while you remain in an active role.

Carnivals

Carnival season is upon us. If you are interested in having your child play in the upcoming carnivals, please complete the Carnival Interest Form on our website. We use these forms to build up teams (noting actual teams/coaches etc. may not yet be locked in).

Email updates (and Facebook)

If you don’t always check Facebook, or remember to check the website, you can now register for email updates to be sent to your inbox (only when new posts are added, never more than one email per day). Just fill out the box at the bottom of our home page to subscribe.

If you noticed we disappeared from Facebook for a few days recently, we were caught up in the changes for news sites which removed visibility of all of our posts. We’re back online now though!

Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any queries or suggestions.

Cheers,
Daniel
