The boys played the last of and without doubt the best of the blues teams on the weekend. The boys went out with a focus on defence and were much improved on our last outing. We were down on troops but the boys we had played terrific and pushed the Blues all the way. Player of the week went to Jimmy for a much improved effort over all aspects of the game. Try scorers this week were Nelson 4, Jay 4 Kobe 2 and Nev 1. Last game this week boys against the Roos in Queanbeyan let’s make it a big one. See you there.
This week we played the Blues at their home ground. It was a very good game of footy. All of our kids played exceptionally well and they all put in 110%. It was awesome to see the kids muscle up in defence on our own line on a number of occasions. We had a 2 way tie this week for Player of the week. Bailey C scored his first try and Bailey D for great sportsmanship.
The U8 Blacks has another great game against Queanbeyan. They dealt like pros with the alternating sunshine and pouring rain. Henry played on fire with amazing defence and attack. He was supported well by the rest of the team who are really starting to show the incredible teamwork they have refined over the season. Looking forward to our last game against the other u8 Tigers next weekend. It really has been a great season!
Early in the season, you may recall the Bulls were entertaining visitors in a tightly contested game against the Tigers U9s at Mick Sherd Oval, within a narrow four points.
The rematch at Nicholls last Sunday certainly didn’t disappoint with another enthralling and fascinating encounter.
The frequent downpours certainly weren’t able to dampen the enthusiasm of either side and in an exciting first quarter, following an exchange of converted tries, the Bulls led by a further try heading into the break.
The second quarter saw the honours shared with our team weaving in two tries and a conversion and the Bulls matching us all the way.
Four points down at halftime, the Tigers enterprising runs, stirring tackles, great offloads and awesome teamwork saw them level the scores by the end of the third quarter, with 2 tries and a conversion to one converted try.
With everything to play for in the final term, both sides came out fighting and the Bulls countered every punch offered by our young stalwarts by converting both their tries, as did we.
In the nail biting last few moments of the game the Tigers summoned all their energy for one last ditch effort and again managed to cross the try line.
Déjà vu or what! – The Tigers edge another close encounter by four points yet again!!!!
Not only was this a helluva game but also our two LLs, Lachlan O and Lachlan W played awesomely and were rightly each given the Coach’s award this week.
Rain or shine, the U9s certainly know how to play great footy and provided there is another game next weekend they will be waiting to run out and put on a great show whomever the opposition might be. Be there or be square!
Go you Tigers!
Congratulations to our U10 team on making the semi finals! Unfortunately, they were defeated by Belconnen Sharks 38-22, but it wasn’t without a fight! Tries to Aaron M, Colt W, and Jack T. Successful conversions by Thomas H and Colt W.
An awesome effort by the U11s to make it to the semi finals – you should all be proud! Unfortunately the Tigers were just edged out by the Rams 38-28. The Tigers boys and girls gave a massive effort, with tries to Thomas S, Jake G, and Seth S. Successful conversions by Charles N, Thomas S, Jake G, and Aden P.
