Another great round of home games, hopefully kids enjoyed receiving their new backpacks largely thanks to the support of all of our sponsors. Sadly, Round 10 has been declared a washout, but we’ll look forward to seeing all the teams back at home for Round 11 on 1 August.

It was fantastic to see all the players and some of the Coaches wearing their pink bootlace covers to mark our Women in League Round (how cool are the photos!?). It’s an in important reminder of contribution that women make to the game – as players, volunteers, officials, and supporters. Thanks to all of our players for wearing their pink with pride.

The next home games will also see our players rocking their Crazy Socks in support of the Men of League Foundation (to find out more click here).

We’ll add any missing reports as they become available.

Munchkins

Our Munchkins were no doubt pleased that the snow, wind and rain of Saturday had cleared to make way for the Munchkins session early on Sunday morning. A slightly smaller group this round, followed Coach Trev’s guidance as they worked through a number of drills to help improve their ball control and restrain themselves from kicking the ball off into the sunset whenever they could. As always, our little stars listened attentively as they gain more confidence with each session – many preparing to head to our U6’s team in 2022. The kids also looked awesome as they posed for a quick photo in their pink bootlace covers before they headed off to enjoy the rest of their Sundays. See you in a fortnight!

Round 9 was played in fine, cool conditions against the Woden Weston white side at Mick Sherd Oval. Despite missing the Round 8 game due to weather and the last few weeks of training for school holidays all the kids were full of energy and willingness to run and tackle. To have the kids running up to tackle instead of standing back was a big leap forward for this team so well done this week.

Player awards went to Kiff and Mason which were well deserved. It’s great to see the kids enjoying themselves each week. See everyone at training this Thursday ready for our next game.

Well what a return to rugby league for our boys, after a month off, with the coach now on the sidelines, a new dummy half rotation and a referee for only the second time you all played a fantastic game of muddy footy. By having a dedicated dummy half for each quarter it allowed for more fluency from our ball runners and we enjoyed making long runs and moving the ball down to the Dragons end of the field, and scoring plenty of tries. One of the most pleasing things this week was the boys improved attitude in defence with lots of tackles spread across the tackle count but the stand out and winner of our tackler of the week trophy was Nelson making 26 on the day. Nathan and Bailey played easily their best games of football so far with plenty of runs and just as many tackles. Captain Blake as well as Pat and Will were also solid in the middle making the Dragons earn every run they made. Tries were plenty full this week earns by the boys hard work in defence, and were scored by Lucas 4, Nelson 1, Nathan 2, Kobe 4 and Jay 4. Well played today boys it was most enjoyable to watch, rest up and I’ll see you on Tuesday.

Junior Tigers go down fighting against the Goulburn Stockman’s U10s

Our your Tigers picked up where they finished last week at the Carnival with another highly entertaining game at Mick Sherd Oval, this time against the Goulburn Stockman’s U10s. With the team enhanced with the return of a number of players post the school holidays, and the sun shining through to keep us all warm on the touchline, the footy on the field was equally bright and entertaining from the first to the final whistle.

Max was first to dart through from 20 metres out and cross the line which he followed up by successfully converting his own try. However, this seemed to spur the Stockman side into action as they ran in three quick tries although thankfully not all of them were converted. Our Tigers were equal to the task, continuing to press forward, displaying some great ball skills with reliable handling and accurate offloads which led to Damon dashing through to score on the left side. That said, two further tries by the Stockman’s team meant we went into the break, down 10-26.

An inspirational talk at half time from Coach Jerry meant that the Tigers came out all guns blazing. Tries from Max dashing over from 5 metres out, and a quick double from Lachlan with two dazzling runs, and all three tries converted by Dan, Lachlan and Kieran respectively ensured that the Tigers led and edged the second half 18-14.

While Stockman’s were 40-28 winners, the match was much closer than the score suggests. Again we were treated to some impressive tackling by our Tigers, equally good hit ups as well as fantastic teamwork, with everyone working hard of each other.

As always it is difficult to single out individual players however Damon in particular had an awesome game and with Kieran tackling brilliantly as well as Rhys with his storming runs breaking through the line on many occasions, all three players justifiably received this week’s Coach’s award for their awesome efforts.

Thanks to all the families and friends for their enthusiastic and wholehearted encouragement from which continues to energise our U10s and we all benefit from their great on field performance and warm spirit off the field too.

U12

Welcome back to second half of season. This week was woman of league and the boys looked awesome with their pink shoe lace covering. What an amazing first game back the boys played. Was nail biting game with some stellar try’s and unfortunately not so good defence on the try line. We didn’t come away with the win final score being 16-20

Aden and Jon made some great line breaks and helped the boys gain ground. Jake almost scored at the try line.

Outstanding effort by all the boys and bring on the next rounds.

The Under 12’s League Tag team took on The Woden Ram’s team on Sunday on a Sunny yet chilly day! There were some nerves amongst the team prior to kick off as our last game against the Ram’s was a tough one. Our team played incredibly well! Violet had fantastic runs as did Tarsha and Lani. Some fantastic tags taken by Katie, Josie and Tyenikah were fierce in attack from Dummy Half. It’s great to see leadership developing amongst the team and the coaches love seeing the girls listening to advice and spreading across the field. Great teamwork by Brooklyn and Olivia. Final score was 0-40 to the Rams however it was a fantastic effort by all and probably the best display of team work we’ve seen all season, well done! Awards this week went to Holly and Ruby D.

After a long time away from footy games due to the school holiday break and terrible weather, the Bungendore Tigers U/14s team were back this week with a vengeance. The grounds were very muddy but it didn’t dampen our teams’ spirit.

Before the match, they were surprised with a facetime phone call from Brett wishing them luck with a special appearance from Jack Wighton and Josh Papalii, which resulted in lots of excitement amongst the boys.

Congratulations to our try scorers for this week: Tremaine, Josh, Reggie, Stevie, Dilan and Cooper T. The boys worked really hard and cooperated as a team unit. Their strengths were communicating on the field and ensuring they were ready to receive the ball. This was reflected in our amazing win, with the final score being 52-4.

We saw some excellent conversions from Josh, Reggie and Tremaine and these boys are improving their kicking ability every week.

To say that we are proud of how far the boys have come this season would be an understatement. Keep it up, Tigers!
