Here’s the Round 5 match reports.
Another week and another tough match up for the boys. We travelled to wright park to take on the Blues black team who came ready to play. The conditions were a little more chilly than we had grown used to and as such took a little while for the boys to warm into the game as the blues scored two early tries. The boys clawed them back through great long range tries to Christian and Jay. Defensively we had to work hard against a quick moving and large opposition with Geordie and Hugh leading the way, with Aiden and Murray getting in on the act putting their bodies on the line in front of their biggest ball runners. Liam and Ollie teamed up together for several tackles really pushing the blues back and toward the side line regularly. Try scorers this week were Jay 1, Christian 1, and Hugh 3. Goals were kicked by Murray, Geordie, Hugh and Jay. Tackler of the week went to Geordie for a tremendous effort in defence. Player of the week went to Hugh who was in every thing in attack and defence.
Unfortunately today wasn’t our best but we had other things on our minds as the boys we set to play at half time at Canberra Stadium. In what was a very short game the boys did themselves proud by playing together as a team with little preparation or instruction from the coach. Well done boys and good job on representing Bungendore after wards with you good behaviour whilst we watched the raiders take on the Eels, well done boys.
See you all at training on Thursday.

BUNGENDORE JUNIOR TIGERS U11s vs TUGGERANONG KNIGHTS – MICK SHERD OVAL – 29 MAY 22
After the rain beating down heavily on Friday & Saturday nights, how great to see the sun burning through on the backs of our young Tigers who roared to their second win of the season, against the Knights 48-22. All the better as we only had our starting eleven, for the second week in a row, due to injuries and ill health. Thanks to our families and friends for turning out to cheer and support our young guns on the road to victory.
A moral boosting first half saw our team run in seven, yes seven, tries and four successful conversions, which was great reward for some fantastic work by Lachlan (4), Kieran (2) and Rhys crossing the line, as well as Jack, Dan and Logan helping out with conversions. Additionally Lachlan & Rhys converted their own efforts too! All credit to the Knights they tried hard as well and got a converted try themselves, with Tigers going into the half time break leading 38-6.
Indeed it was the Knights who had the better of the second half 16-10 but not before Lachlan got on the scoreboard with two further tries and Digby adding the extra points (with a great smile too – pure gold!). But today was not just about our points scorers, this was very much a team, effort – Kieran, Bowen and Austin were unlucky with their conversion attempts and Zack as well as Kiri all worked hard for our team.
Outstanding tackling, running and communications, as well as his tries, put Lachlan as the stand-out for this week’s Coach’s award in recognition of his star performance, with Digby justifiably being recognised for getting stuck in and having a real go.
Most impressive was the Tigers teamwork, giving a 100% throughout.
Please join us next weekend to see another fantastic game– Go the Tigers!
