Juniors: Sponsor Spotlight – Community Bank Bungendore

Welcome to Sponsor Spotlight, a weekly Saturday showcase for our biggest financial sponsors. We encourage you to support them when you can, so they can continue to support the Bungendore Tigers Juniors. Our first spotlight is on the Bungendore Community Bank, a sponsor of the Club for many years, and once again on the jersey front (our major 2021/22 sponsor).

Community Bank Bungendore

Community Investment Returns Four Million Dollars

Almost 20 years ago, a small group of community members came together with one goal, to create a Community Bank to provide banking services locally, and with a commitment to strengthen the community of Braidwood and the surrounding district. Bungendore residents watched on and began garnering support to join the party & a branch opened on 1 July 2006.

In 2021 the result is locally owned bank branches that provide the full set of banking services for the region, via the Bendigo Adelaide Bank, with our main objectives being locally driven & delivered financial services, and using the profits to invest in community projects, of all shapes & sizes, year on year, or that once in a lifetime fantastical idea.

As the operator of the two community bank branches, Palerang Financial Services Ltd (PFSL) has now reached an impressive milestone of delivering $4 million dollars of profits back into the Bungendore and Braidwood communities, and further across the region to include projects in Araluen, Captains Flat, Mongarlowe, Nerriga, and Tarago. Our Community Banks are now an essential ingredient in supporting the vibrancy and diversity of activities and services across the region, where local residents can join and participate in our community; and the Crookwell community is showing strong interest as we step up our agency operations there.

Our community is our driver and we exist to provide financial services and to deliver benefits to the community. In Bungendore we have invested in a range of projects such as:

  • The shade covering the children’s playground at Mick Sherd Oval
  • Infrastructure for our show ground
  • Upgrading the Bungendore tennis courts
  • Supporting the creation of a National Bush Balladeers memorial
  • Supporting the establishment of the Men’s Shed
  • Providing support for local sporting teams of all codes
  • Hampers to help those in need

We have worked with other parties to provide a range of support to larger initiatives as well.

The success comes from the local community who are using these services that enable us to contribute and deliver worthwhile community outcomes.

As well as community projects, the profits generated employ local people, use local services, where possible, and shareholders receive an annual dividend.
