U6

This round was played on a fine and Sunny Mother’s Day against the Kangaroos Maroon side at Freebody Oval. The kids all turned up keen and ready to go. After only 1 game and a couple of trainings we can already see an improvement in all the kids from the week before. There was some enthusiastic tackling and running by all on the field and several tries were scored by each side with most of these being from end to end, which was a highlight for everyone cheering on from the sideline. Player awards went to Ivy, Christian and Seth this week which were well deserved. At the end it was great to see the kids all smiling and having fun. We will see everyone at training and our next game which is at home.

U7 Orange

On a sunny mothers day morning the boys headed off to play the Blues number 1 team. Having missed training on Thursday they started off a little slowly with the Blues crossing for two early tries. The boys then remembered we were there to play some footy and when the boys started to make some tackles to get the footy back, managed to score some good tries ourselves with a pretty even spread this week with Lucas 2, Nelson 2, Kobe 2, Jay 2, and Blake 1 crossing the stripe and could have had more with a few of the boys dropping the ball over the line (something to work on at training). Nath and Bailey continue to improve each week, with Will, Jimmy and Pat who was our captain this week adding some spark in attack and defence. Boys you all played well today against a side struggling to play within the rules and should hold your heads high for how you handled yourselves, your coach is very proud. Players of the week this week were Jay, Kobi and Lucas who is also this weeks Tackler of the Week, well done boys.  See you all at training on Thursday to prepare for another big game at Mick Sherd on Sunday.

Under 9s Black played the Queanbeyan Roos. Try scorers were Jake 1 and Owen 2. Henry, Noah and Will were impressive in their defence and organising the team defence. A big shout out to all the Mums and Grannys who came to watch the game, we hope you all had a wonderful mothers day xx

U9 Orange

The U9 Orange had another great game against Woden Rams. It was a beautiful sunny day and the kids came out firing, making all the mums proud for mothers day! They showed great teamwork and are already pulling together as a team so well.

Amazing tries to Clay, Johnny, Tobey, Aidan and Tommy. There were also a number of successful conversions.

Encouragement Award went to Jason as he played consistently well throughout the game and really helped to bring the game home in the last quarter.

Player of the match was deservedly awarded to Johnny. His inner steam train came out on the field and he didn’t stop the whole game. He showed amazing determination and was completely on fire! Well done Johnny and to the whole team.

Looking forward to more fun next Sunday.

U10
U10s Junior Tigers share the honours with Belconnen Sharks in a thrilling 80 point extravaganza

One thing is for sure, if you are watching the U10s this season you won’t be sold short on entertainment and excitement. As we ventured away to Melba last Sunday, our youngsters provided a Mother’s Day treat in a 40 point all draw with the Belconnen Sharks. A total of 14 tries and 12 conversions all – up, what more could you ask for!
Fantastic handling – and spreading the ball wide – meant there was never a dull moment in a fluent and free running game, helped by excellent refereeing throughout the match. We also saw some excellent defence, with the line moving up together and some great tackling throughout. Max put us on the scoreboard early and a hat-trick of tries from Lachlan W, with individual conversions by Max, Lachlan W, Jack and Kieran saw the Tigers go in to the half time break, after a brilliant first half matched by the Sharks’ strong performance – with a slender two point lead 24-22.
We had all just about caught our breath during the break, when the Tigers again came out roaring in the second half, picking up where they had left off. In a fascinating see-sawing game, Lachlan W and Jacobi both ran in tries, and Jacobi added a conversion. The Sharks also performed well, equalling our team’s endeavour. A grandstand finish was set up in the dying minutes with Lachlan W getting us to within 2 points with a try just before full time. A cool, calm conversion by Rhys on the siren then tied the game up – what a fabulous all-round effort.
Our Tigers played their hearts out – with the never say die spirit shining through -while everyone deserves a mention, this week Damon and Toby stood out for the Awards for their awesome efforts.
As we continue to train well, we go into Round 3 full of enthusiasm and strong desire to maintain our high level of performance. One thing’s for sure – if you’re coming to cheer us on this Sunday, at the Mick Sherd Oval, bring your calculator with you – you’’ certainly need it as the Tigers will continue to cross the white line – that’s for sure.
Go you Tigers!!!!

U12

We had an early game in Goulburn. Boys played a great match. Took a bit to get into the rhythm but we got there with our line moving forward as one and holding the other team at bay. Liam made a line brake down the left side and scored the first try for us.

We lost the game 12 to 8. Smashing effort. Look forward to our next home game.

U12-GLT

U12 Lt headed off to Yass for round 2. Congratulations to Ashlee & Ruby K for scoring a try.  Unfortunately we went down to Yass White 28-10.  Thanks to all our amazing parents and volunteers.

U14

What a stressful start it was for the parents getting lost and sent to the wrong field (thanks Cassie)!

We would like to welcome Bryan to our team making his debut against the Knights.

Our boys tried hard and let it all out on the field. It was a great effort by all the boys. As a team we continue to go from strength to strength and improve with each game, it’s so good to see the boys encouraging each other and to hear the communication between them as this has been a focus at training.

Unfortunately we lost but got some points on the board with Zach and Stevie scoring and lifting the teams spirits to never give up.

Our awards this week go to Zachary S. for his edge defence producing some wonderful one-on-one tackles.

And Josh C. for never giving up on line breaks, chasing the ball carrier back, which saved tries against us on multiple occasions.
