Juniors: Match report – Round 2

U6 Orange

Well with the cold weather it took our boys a while to warm to the task of playing footy this week as we travelled to Melba to take on the sharks, but they all had fun and we saw some improvement from last week. Strong tackling from everyone  today with Nelson leading the way with some great help from Blake. Will was strong always putting his hand up for a run and gaining plenty of meters. Great service at dummy half from Jimmy and Nev helped our ball runners make good meters with Jay scoring three long range tries, Nelson picked up a try and our player of the game Kobe scoring a try and always troubling the sharks defence with his probing runs off the restarts. Pat had a breakout game today too running strongly and scoring two great tries, well done PATTY. I’ll see you boys at training on Thursday as we prepare for our first home game against the bears on Sunday.

This week the U/7s faced the Bears. It was raining and cold and the whole team turned up and played like superstars. The first 2 quarters were a little bit of an uphill battle with the bears running in some really quick tries. Our boys and girls then turned it around in the second half, with solid defence and strong attack. It made for a superb game and they come out at the end with domination! Everyone played really well considering the conditions were very ordinary! Player of the week went to Aiden for his standout performance in every aspect of the game. Well done U/7’s! Let’s turn it up for our first home game this weekend coming!

U8 Black

The U8 blacks had a great game against the Buffaloes. They showed their determination and team work in the wet. Tries went to Johnny, Henry, Tommy and Naite. Aidan and Logan were both successful in their conversions.  Will had an outstanding defensive game with suburb tackling. Tommy won man of the match for his great work as first receiver.

Yahoo – Junior Tigers U9s go back to back!

The continuous downpour certainly didn’t dampen the effort and enthusiasm of the U9s throughout an enthralling game at Freebody Oval.

In a tight first quarter the Tigers led by 4 points going into the break. Both teams shared tries in the second and third quarters so there was everything still to play for as the heavens opened again!

Undeterred the Tigers lifted further in the final term.

Another fantastic all-round effort by everyone with Alex H starring for his great tackling and getting this week’s Coach’s award!

What a great little side! At one stage we thought we may have to forfeit however ended up playing with 9 players. Up against a side of Belconnen Sharks who had their full squad plus reserves, our team did not back down. They played their little hearts out and we are all so proud of them. We ended up going down 38 – 34 which was a great result given our numbers. Tries and conversions to: Aaron, Colt and Thom. Our player of the week went to Thomas H.

Bungendore Tigers under 11’s had a wet game today, playing well against Queanbeyan and taking out the win 16-28.

Other teams’ reports may be added when they become available. Photos of some games are not available due to Child Protection requirements
